How RoleGist evaluates job information

RoleGist helps international students evaluate job opportunities before applying. This page explains how job information is collected, classified, and interpreted—and where the evidence stops.

What RoleGist does

RoleGist combines job discovery with a job-specific eligibility check. The goal is to help users spend less time on applications that are unlikely to fit their situation, not to promise that a job or employer will work for every applicant.

Where job data comes from

Job information comes from public employer and applicant-tracking-system job pages, including public Greenhouse job boards where available. RoleGist observes these public sources over time. Listing a job does not imply a partnership with the employer or source platform.

Active, closed, and unknown

Active
The latest reliable source observation shows the job as currently available.
Closed
The source indicates that the job is no longer available. A historical page may remain, but RoleGist does not present the role as open for applications.
Unknown
The current state cannot be established reliably. Unknown jobs are not treated as active.

A job can change from active to closed or unknown when its public source changes, disappears, or can no longer be checked reliably.

Source observation time

Latest source observation is the most recent time RoleGist reliably observed a current source. Oldest current source observation is the earliest observation still represented in the current set.

Source observation time is not an employer publication date.

It is also not a universal data cutoff or a new confirmation by the employer. Different public sources can be observed on different schedules.

Location normalization

RoleGist normalizes location only when the available job data supports a reliable interpretation. Known cities, states, and countries can be displayed in a consistent form; ambiguous locations remain unknown.

A mention of “remote” does not establish an allowed country, and an employer's headquarters does not establish the location of every job.

Job-family classification

Categories such as Software Engineering use conservative title and job-fact rules. RoleGist favors precision and may leave adjacent or ambiguous roles outside a category.

Job-family classification is separate from work-authorization eligibility.

Experience and career-stage signals

Explicit experience requirements and clear career-stage wording can be shown as job facts. When a posting does not state a reliable requirement, RoleGist leaves it unspecified rather than turning a missing number into an entry-level claim.

Eligibility checks

A job-specific check may combine job-posting evidence, employer wording, user-confirmed work-authorization facts, and reviewed evidence where available. RoleGist does not automatically mark every listed job as suitable for international students.

Because a user's authorization and timeline matter, two users can receive different results for the same job. A result supports an application decision; it is not a guarantee of eligibility or employment authorization.

Sponsorship language

Statements such as “no sponsorship,” “now or in the future,” “must be authorized to work,” or citizenship requirements must be interpreted in their actual context. A short phrase is not automatically converted into a universal yes-or-no answer.

Historical employer evidence

Past H-1B filings, Labor Condition Application records, and other employer sponsorship history can be useful historical signals when available.

Historical H-1B or LCA evidence does not prove that a current job will provide sponsorship.

Historical activity also does not prove that a particular user is eligible. A missing E-Verify record remains unknown; it is not evidence that an employer is not enrolled.

Known versus unknown

RoleGist preserves unknown when the available evidence does not support a conclusion.

  • Sponsorship remains unknown when current job wording and reviewed evidence do not establish a policy.
  • E-Verify remains unknown when no reliable current record is available.
  • Location remains unknown when the source is ambiguous.
  • Experience remains unspecified when the posting does not state a reliable requirement.

Human review

Some restriction facts or employer evidence can carry a reviewed status when a source has been examined. Not every job or evidence item is manually reviewed. Unreviewed or unavailable evidence is not presented as if a person confirmed it.

RoleGist does not provide legal or immigration advice. It does not guarantee eligibility, sponsorship, employment authorization, immigration approval, an interview, or a hiring outcome.
